I'm pretty happy with this whole sequence, and that definitely includes this page. Satisfied with my writing on it, and I think Adam did a great job of making it look how I intended, with all of Alex's anger and frustration over the situation he's in pouring out all at once in one giant outburst.

Another reason I'm happy with this sequence as a whole is that it serves as a nice demonstration of both my improvement in terms of properly laying out a page and sort of planning how everything should be presented and Adam's improvement in the art department. Compare back to the first real conversation between Alex and Sarabeth, with that horrible, word balloons randomly all over the page thing over a single panel. This conversation is a lot more wordy than even that one, especially some of the later pages, but while the pages do simplify a bit to accommodate it I do think there remains some visual interest throughout the scene.

Speaking of Melissa and Xandy... We'll be coming back to them very, very soon.

Awww. ^^ I wake up, I see Martin's comment, and now I'm sure I'm gonna be in a good mood the rest of the day. Unless I failed that math test I'm supposed to be getting back, but let's hope that didn't happen. ^^

But yeah, THIS was pretty satisfying. I know at least one reader who's pissed Sarabeth hasn't gotten a major call-out like this yet, and gotta admit, I was really surprised at just how intensely pissed off Alex managed to be here. Not that he doesn't have the right to be, but when Martin's scrirpt made it clear he wanted a red-in-the-face explosion of anger, I did admit I was sorta surprised. We haven't seen Alex really pissed yet, so this was pretty cool to draw.

This scene really does show a lot of improvement in Martin's writing, as I think it does carry a lot of weight but also backs off and examines the heavier ramifications of what's going on. I think a lot of other webcomic writers would've just done some fanservice-related hijinks over a scene like this that explores the darker implications of what's happening, so this was all kinds of neat.

Then again I don't read that many other webcomics, so maybe I'm not giving them due credit. ^^ I know Misfile, which was a big influence on Wright As Rayne, does explore the darker moments of this sort of transformation at least.

Sarabeth sure had this coming I can't wait to see Xandy. Alex doesn't need powers, he has heart, and that is stronger than any superpower.

Heh. Tempting to make some variety of Captain Planet joke in response. But yeah, this was pretty satisfying to write, as was the stuff we'll be doing soon with Xandy.
