Heheh... This page was a lot of fun, very interesting to do. ^^

We naturally see Stargirl's art style again, I think for the first time since her brief appearance way back. The thicker lines were an interesting look back for me; think they came out very neat with the art style. Had me briefly wondering if we should use them for Blues again since the main reason was that thinner lines worked better in Paint, but ultimately think after McCay's chapter, Blues can benefit from the more serious look the thinner lines give off.

The second panel also called for a villain with an 80s Gimmick, which if anything I didn't go far enough with. The 3D glasses were Martin's idea, but I added other details like the Gordon Gecko suit and the arcade machine (POLYBIUS!). The phone he's holding should be way larger too. Like enough to bludgeon a guy to death with.

The last panel is probably still my favorite though since I think it nicely conveys what's going on with no dialog. The penultimate one had very few direction to it so I mostly just drew whatever comes into my head when I think of "After the Apocalypse."

Heheh... There's an amusing bit I discussed with Martin once about what's going on here, but don't think I can say exactly what it was just yet. Maybe after a bit later in the comic, when it's not a spoiler. ^^

It's kind of funny how much longer the page looks at eight panels instead of six, even with the same actual dimensions. A decent chunk of the remainder of the chapter has seven, it bares mentioning, though there's only one more that has eight.

I did give a little more detail on that seventh panel than just the idea, though not a lot - the script called for the cross. I kind of meant to do more with that, but it doesn't really wind up being a factor. Still, the next couple of pages are probably going to be among the most memorable in the chapter, and I'm hoping everyone enjoys those.

It's also always nice seeing Stargirl again. I can't really guarantee we'll see more clips of the show just given the story's direction in the chapters after this, but I would like to do more with it. If nothing else, it might make for a neat between-chapters filler at some point or something. We'll see how that goes.

Incidentally, the main reason I called for an 80s villain was to justify having the video be on VHS.

The guy takes his 80s nostalgia seriously enough to have somehow tracked it down.

VHS players really have gone out of style, it's all DVD and Blu-Ray players now(in fact I don't think anything comes out on VHS anymore, all you see at the end of movie commercials these days is "coming soon to DVD and Blu-Ray).

Yeah, they still sell blank tapes and security cameras still use them a lot since they're a bit more secure than other means, but VHS isn't really something in wide use these days. Probably just as well if you've ever had a tape get eaten.
