Look, redesigns! In motion! Yeah, be getting the first glances of those in-context as a bit of a double header today, both here and with the Halloween picture going up on Blues today. Go take a look at that, speaking of.

Quite enjoyed writing this page - I had been wanting to work in a scene with Starchild, Xmarlek, and Hazel in the chapter proper, but given the flashback structure of it and just some general pacing issues there wasn't really a place to put it. So it got inserted here instead - do have plans for this stuff going forward.

Really happy with how this one came out, on both a scripting and art level. Really feels like Hazel's kind of starting to come into his own more as a weaselly kiss-up who tries to be intimidating but isn't at all, and I'm wanting to explore that more in the future. Also wanted to do more to depict Xmarlek as being a thug, albeit an intelligent one, compared to when we saw him in a more professional setting when he was talking to Power.

Not sure what all else I've got here, but very happy with this one. The next page of the filler will be turning the focus over to Sarabeth and Lillian.

I was pretty nervous starting these, since I was sure something would go wrong with putting the re-designs into practice. Devil's in the details on that kinda thing. But very pleased with how they came out. The re-designs have honestly impressed and surprised me and Martin in every single stage of doing them.

But yeah, really do like the page. ^^ Hazel and Xmarlek are pretty cool bad guys and looking forward to the two of them having a more active part in future stories. I do honestly like "Kingpen" style villains, which is what Xmarlek largely reminds me of, to the point I wanna put one in Blues in the future. That's probably why, when being re-designed, Xmarlek's put on a few dozen pounds.

Also contrasts nicely with the comedic-looking Hazel. His hair wound up looking very girly, hope folks enjoy the strike to his dignity. ^^ Oh, and Donna and her Uncle-Jack-Expy bodyguard are there too, but they don't have re-designs, so who cares?

The toning's better here too. Don't make any stupid rookie mistakes on it. ^^ Yeah, kinda got one of those "Beginning of a new era" moments commenting on this.

Hazel's weird and it looks like he's being ignored for the most part. Isn't impressing Xmarlek what Alex is supposed to do?

Right, that was part of the job. Just thanks to Arc he wound up doing moreso than he would've otherwise.

And yeah, Hazel being written off or ignored isn't something he's much of a stranger to.
