Yeah, the set of the show wound up being very Space Ghost-y, only with a kind of horror theme. Idea is it's supposed to look really goofy, like the kind of Halloween show you WOULD see on public access.

Laura's an Inkling in the last panel. ... Yeah, she's not sticking to the Empress thing. Idea is that we're actually going to have her go through multiple costumes through the course of the evening. I honestly think the reasoning on that originated from me and Martin throwing ideas for costumes for her back and forth and just not being able to settle on a favorite. So she's going multiple ones.

The dialog in the script for the last panel just said "Some kind of attempt to replicate the sound of how Inklings talk" and "More Inkling noises." Martin tossed me a clip of Inkling speech and had me onomatopoeia it. It's one of those weird speeches that's really hard to figure out how to write phonetically. Sort of like Wookie-roars. Or that Zelda chime.

Yeah, not lingering with the TV long right at this moment. We'll be back to it before too long though - just a few pages off before we're back to that, no cutaway to Hazel first or anything. As can be seen we're going cheesy and dumb with it for the most part, but there is indeed a darker side that we'll see a little on down the line.

Next page is number 800. Not anything too huge or earth-shattering in that one - there is one notable thing being drawn attention to on a meta level but I'll get into that when we get there - since the timing didn't really line up unfortunately. Few pages after that is one that if it lined up better would be a way better landmark page, but what can ya do I suppose.

One thing I do like getting to touch on a little bit here, even though it's not gone into much right this moment, is how Alex and Ana have barely interacted and are probably only half aware of each other's eccentricities. Hope to explore that a little further, though next page while it touches on it some more mostly diverts off onto something else.

Not sure why I opted to have Laura dress as an Inkling. Maybe just wanted to use the excuse to do so, I dunno. Either way it is kind of funny since the next costume she shows up in I had something kind of particular in mind for the needs of the plot and Wii Fit Trainer was the first person to come to mind for it, but I didn't want to do two video game characters in a row so I didn't go with that. Think the one I went with instead ended up lending itself to a more memorable sequence anyway, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it in a few pages.

Funny thing, Laura being able to change costumes was one of the reasons the party's set at her house. The original plan was for it to be at Sarabeth's apartment (which was obviously dropped awhile back given Laura hosting a Halloween party was mentioned a good while ago) but between that factor, being a more fresh location, and having more elbow room made the decision to go it this route instead. Which is good since the setting's allowed for a few upcoming things writing it that couldn't have really been done at the apartment.

Very interesting, wonder what's going to happen next.
