Awkward date of horrors continues! Whose idea was it to go to a fancy, high-class place? Paxton is kinda-sorta dressed up nice but this seems TOTALLY out of character for him to pick this place. Ana I could see springing for this, but her outfit is much too fun and casual.

So a week or two ago one of my brother's friends stopped by where I live and asked how the artwork had been going. I liked this page so much this is the one I chose to show off. Kinda is really fun to get some good angles and anime-ish cinematography when seeing these people talk. Trying to branch out a bit. That first panel especially, the angle on it and... yeah.

Funny part is that even though I'm the one who lives in Louisiana, it was entirely Martin's idea to make Ana a native of the state. When he first saw this script was really amazed at the hometown he picked for her; is like an hour from where I live. One of my sisters attended the Louisiana School for Math, Science and Arts there. If you're curious, the city's name is pronounced "NAHK-uh-tish."

I haven't exactly had a million fine dining experiences in my life either. I think I'm kinda with Paxton in that the most I got is family members taking me to nicer places when I was a kid. Actually think one of the last times I went out somewhere with both parents was a place like this.

WHOA! Also hit "submit comic" without thickening up the dialog balloons....

Hey, turns out Ana used to be married! ... I'll be honest, that was something come up with basically right before writing this page, mostly since just a bad breakup would be kind of cliche and it pretty much occurred to me that between Alex, Sareena, Misty, and Jake we had yet to have a main character in one of these comics who had been married so it was a nice way to mix some things up.

The thing on Ana's hometown pretty much just came from wanting somewhere around that region where we didn't really have a character from already and then wanting a town around that size to work with. Quick round of poking about on Wikipedia and that's what I wound up with.

Either way, yeah, I do rather like how this one came out. Good art, good bit of insight into both her and Paxton's backgrounds a little bit, just happy with it all around. In particular I've really enjoyed getting to spotlight Ana in this chapter and really put the focus on her with these parts.

Kind of weird commenting on this really given just how far ahead I am in the scripts. Finished writing the next chapter the other day.
