Heheh... Yeah, this was something Martin did that I didn't really figure was coming. McShay isn't a horrible monster, just a hired gun; why would she be onboard for this whole "drive everyone in Atlanta mad" idea? Of course she's going to bail here. In other stories you wouldn't think of it, but O'Hara's plan is both so insane and so pointless she kinda has to say, "Uhh... Yeah, no."

I say pointless and that's one aspect of O'Hara I really like; she gets nothing out of what she does. She's just a sadistic bitch who enjoys tormenting people on either wide scale or small scale. I love just how deranged that is.

Heck, one touch I really love with this page is that once Alex is freed, O'Hara immediately moves behind Patricia. Patricia's clearly not going to stop Alex, but it's a little hint that if Alex bum-rushes her she's got a few seconds of using Patricia for a human shield, which would be enough time for McShay to intervene. O'Hara's not gonna be able to take more than a single hit before she goes down.

This was something I was kind of unsure how to approach going in and quickly hit on an idea for. More info to come in the aftermath of this of course but yeah. McShay knows where she draws the line.

Of course, did get some degree of a set-up for this before when McShay gave Alex something of a warning about Rin back in Sound Alive. Really don't picture her as necessarily a terrible person, just kind of a single-minded one. She wants to fight people more than she wants to hurt them.

In general pretty happy with this one and hopefully everyone enjoys it. Do like getting to do that, and also to have Alex show his intelligence and priorities by immediately trying to escape rather than bothering with the fight. Didn't work out but do like getting to show that yeah, more than anything Alex is pragmatic.

Incidentally if McShay's armor looks off through this sequence, been kind of playing around with her armor details to try and get a better wood look. Think eventually kind of hit on how to play it but it's been sort of a growing on the job process with it and there are pages in this scene where I think it looks better than others.
