Heheh.... Yeah, you can kinda see the difference between Ella and Emma now. While Emma is super bouncey and happy-go-lucky, Ella is more stern and takes her job as seriously as possible. .... Which doesn't matter as much as you'd think since they're at about the same level of competence and intelligence. One of my favorite subtle gags in this page is that in the third and fourth panels, she's saluting with her wrong hand.

As you can see, her current partners in this venture really don't view her with the least amount of respect and clearly are skeptical of her contributions. Which is weird because her sister Emma has a talent for getting things done, albeit usually not in the way she meant to. Maybe Ella's the same way.

Speaking of which, Ella's mention of her sister's "recent successes" involves something that hasn't happened in Blues yet. It's one of those weird deals where this chapter happens AFTER the Marvelous Man blow-up in Blues, but since that chapter isn't done yet and there are still a couple of more twists to come, the chapter can't get that specific about what went down there.

What I like is that Ella and Emma are meant to be well-meaning idiots who are the only members of their group to not HATE super-powered people. As such, as stupid as Ella is she still recognizes that the Patriot Initiative are a bunch of racist assholes and wouldn't normally work with them.

So yeah, like Adam said, the big difference in writing with Ella has been trying to make her a lot more serious and work-focused. Becomes a bit more clear as the scene goes but I feel like this page does a good job of illustrating the point a bit - in particular I really like the whole saluting thing. The decision to have her doing it with the wrong hand was Adam's, by the way. It's a nice touch.

If you didn't see, Sareena and Misty showed up in Blues' previous chapter (as did Marina, who was prominent in a few chapters in BP but hasn't had the chance to appear in WaR yet, and Power's crew - that was previously alluded to when Misty and her discucsed it Star Night) as part of a dash for a lost spell and CANDLE was first introduced as another interested party. It isn't really all that relevant to this chapter or anything but does at least inform the Ella thing a bit.

Oh, also, if you didn't notice the candle there appeared on the cover behind Laura. Kind of a small bit of resource re-using admittedly but felt like an easy move both appropriate to her leg of the plot and a way to subtly hint at CANDLE's involvement in this chapter.

All I've really got offhand but hopefully everyone enjoys. I might expand on this when I repost my comments later if I need to, maybe will have more to say when I'm more awake.

You're impressing nobody Ella and in regards to working with her everybody seems to be thinking oh come on do we have to.
