Admittedly the magic show thing having happened offscreen after the earlier setup for it is kind of a consequence of some changing plans - I had planned on either right before or right after the O'Hara blowoff doing a chapter at a magic show, and actually started on some scripts with it, but as a mix of kind of a lack of ideas on how to go about the execution of it as well as just a general pacing issue it wound up sidelined.
The overall purpose of it being brought into the story is still planned, just kind of have something else in mind for how to get there. At least do get some level of payoff here by tying it into the family structure, as well as using it to segue into this new ability of Ana's.
But yeah, on the whole pretty happy with this one. Admittedly the Midnight Maiden banging their heads together pretty much just happened because Adam said he wanted to see it, but it did feel like a natural way to use Ana's powers in this situation and it worked nicely for what I had planned for the next page.
Actually this is the first time we've seen Ana in-costume since the chapter where the costume debuted, I'm pretty sure. Weird how that happens.
The Ana costume thing is still weird to me since I could've sworn to God she got that costume re-designed at some point. Like, would've bet money. I guess because literally every other costumed character's turned up in another one since.
Speaking of, LOVE the touch of how the costume appears on her, with the visible "drip" effect over the course of a bunch of mini-panels. Really fun. A lot of the shots for this sequence flowed and were brought up really naturally. ^^ It was easy to picture.
