I've been drowning under holiday hours and the artwork's been suffering for it; Martin's been picking up the slack in clean-up but the art's been drifting badly on my end in addition to being slower. We were facing a crunch time this week so I got on this huge kick for this page. It's a decently large one with a lot of heads and a lot of action; I spent a day at work exhausted, leaning on furniture, feeling like garbage because I can't seem to do anything. Then I started reading Superman comics. Got into this big mantra about deciding that I'd be Superman and not only get this page out in one night, but the lineart would be cleaner and crisper with a higher quality than normal.

Kind of the typical heroic determination right at the end, since I now only have one week left of Holiday Hours, which includes the next 4 nights I work having the store open until midnight, but with enough push we should get through this chapter without any more fillers. No guarantees on Blues, since we're not sure how much longer that Chapter's gonna be.

Very happy with this page due to the sudden inspiration that went into it, and also it just coming out great. ^^ Again, Martin's script does a great job putting over everyone in the fight, and seeing Hazel almost take out Ivy and her needing the assist from Starchild is just awesome. Even then he could only get her because she was dazed from having Verbren land on her, which happened because he tried the assist with Down about to kill Hazel. Yeah, just a lot of stuff all going on at once, but you're never really struggling to think of what's happening. Love that feeling.

Grant is pretty adorable here too; both his shocked expression when those mooks dive toward him and how cute he looks when Starchild is pulling him out of danger. Just awwww. ^^

Another quick touch I like that Martin added in the coloring, is when Hazel is done choking Ivy, she has a red rugburn on her neck. It's especially visible in the 6th panel.

This page was kind of born out of a few different things - Alex needed a cool moment after kind of playing second fiddle for a lot of the fight, wanted to continue to push the idea of Hazel being a real threat when given the opportunity, thought Ivy needed some roughing up after how antagonistic she's been at points, wanted Daryl to have a cool moment of coming back into the fray after having spent a lot of the fight being smacked around, really just wanted to get a lot accomplished in a hurry.

I actually tried something with Alex's mist making a bit more thick and formless, but it didn't really work out so I did it the old way - I think the issue was mostly in the choice of color. Probably bares experimenting with further at some point.

There's a touch with this page that was... supposed to be a lot more clear than it is, but kind of wound up lost in the layout. It's not really a huge deal but does hurt a bit of setup for something a little bit. Something to watch for going forward I guess.

What a chaotic mess, what in the world is going to happen now.
