Yeah, REALLY happy with this particular page but a bit hard to talk about... The scripting for it was very specific and a lot of thought had to go into the lineart in ways I didn't expect.

Martin specified on this identical-panel-size format, to help show that the first six panels are all images being seen on a screen, coupled with Jodie and Dorothy holding their items up to the camera. I tried to build on that with the static, one-time background, which let me go into a bit more detail on it than usual. Just came out awesome; extremely Christmasy. It's August and just looking at this comic really puts me in a big Christmas mood. Favorite little touch Martin threw in with the coloring is Steve's bathrobe in the first two panels even being Santa-themed. ^^

It was very freaky to draw too. This wasn't Alex, this was Dorothy. Who we've both never seen before and see all the time. As a result drawing it just felt quite bizarre. Martin said to try and steer closer to how she was drawn in Chapter 1, which helped make her past-selves' design slightly different from the current one. And on top of that... I wound up using a lot of different expressions. I've drawn Alex-As-Dorothy so much I kinda just know the basic expressions by default, but here I kept having to switch it up to show that her personality isn't just identical to Alex's.

All in all was just an odd picture to draw, but I think that's fitting. There's something... really freaky about actually seeing Dorothy. It kind of throws into stark light just how wrong what's happened to her is. It feels almost... voyeuristic. Like, Alex has already had to take over this poor person's life, now he's finally seeing what this person was like.

Dorothy looks really upset in the fifth panel... I put that in there because it could mean a few different things about what Jodie just suggested, and even though Alex has learned a lot about her, he can't be certain on the interpretation. Will talk more about that later.

Also, I tried to make Jodie's hair a lot messier to show she just got out of bed. I kinda like how fuzzy it is and really wish I'd gone further with it.

Yeah, this is definitely a very different page for us; it's nice getting to have an actual look at Dorothy for once, if very strange. I do intend for her to get more screentime devoted to her down the line, preferably sooner rather than later, but for pretty obvious reasons we're limited in just how often that can really happen.

This one was actually a pretty heavy page to color despite not having that many heads just due to how busy the background is; I was actually at a point going to have the lights on the tree be different colors but it would've been such a timesink that I thought better of it. Maybe just for the one panel but trying to keep it consistent among multiple it would've been a huge time investment.

Either way, really happy with this one in a lot of respects. Think the background came out looking good, I like how Dorothy herself looks, think the script's good, think just a lot to enjoy in general here and I do hope that readers like it.

We're very near the end of the chapter but we've still got a bit more ground to cover. There's at least one more major shoe left to drop on this one, though it's probably not too hard to form an idea of where it's going from here.

I know, right? None of us will be lucky enough to get Puppy Shop.
