This was probably a pretty obvious outcome here - Candice had mentioned Dorothy wanting to move in with her dad, focus was put on Cathy's non-presence, and Alex talked about having a plan but not being sure if it was his place to do it. The video of Dorothy was the last push to take that gamble.

I had some hesitations on whether or not to effectively put a deadline on the body swap like this, but ultimately I decided I could make it work within the context of the greater narrative and that it worked better than just arbitrarily coming up with some reason for Alex not to explore a solution to his problem. Especially given there've been seeds in the background on this for a loooong time, though actually rolling with them was a semi-recent idea. A good example is this page way back in chapter 15 -

Though there is some room for uncertainty with it still and I'd kind of like to explore that; after all, that video of Dorothy was from a year ago and Candice might not be entirely clear on Dorothy's feelings or why she never just asked if that's what she wanted. It is kind of a selfish move for Alex on a level but I think he could only do it seeing the evidence for this that maybe this is really what Dorothy wanted after all. And I do feel like if the situation changed it is something that could be walked back; after all, that's months away and there'll probably be a fair bit of time spent talking it over and planning it out.

As said before, the next chapter will be number 26, Not Christmas Without You, but first we'll take a bit of a break for some side content to prep for it; we'll hear from Xandy and Lenore on Friday, then we'll turn over to a pair of relevant side stories for the remainder of the filler. I'm really hoping everyone enjoys those as well as the chapter to come; it'll be somewhat akin to the same chapter I just linked to, Storms Are Brewing, in jumping around between various short arcs. Thank you for reading and I hope you continue doing so as we approach the 10 year anniversary!

My internet is out at the moment so typing these comments on my phone. Hope folks'll understand if I keep things a bit short in that case.

It's weird, this chapter was really short but I think due to the world slowly burning as it ran, it's felt a lot longer. But it was pretty fun; very different. Somber and a good character study while also getting things back on track for the focus returning to core concept. Alex as Dorothy. There's a reason we went back to advertising in this chapter.

But yeah, the weird thing is, Alex is making a major life decision for Dorothy, but I love that it's entirely for her own good. And like Martin said, it can easily be walked back.

About all I got. After Sarabeth's no sympathy reaction to Alex's outburst earlier, it was crazy satisfying to see her freak out in this page.

We'll have to see how it works out, eh?
