Well, this isn't going to be awkward at all.

This story was kind of a rollercoaster in terms of planning it out; for a good while I wasn't really sure on whether to cut it or not, since it was kind of looking like the chapter was going to run long, but it was something I was wanting to do. Part of it was I wasn't sure how in depth to go with it exactly; at a point this was going to open at the apartment where Dorothy lives, with Sarabeth and Lillian having a bit more of a presence in the chapter and involve a bit more leadup, but ended up switching to this approach of opening as they arrive, which I think works better in terms of service to the story anyway.

There were other things that could've gone differently with the planning process, but some of that will likely come up later. At a point in time it could've easily ended up being focused more from Ivy's perspective instead, but I do feel like it works better centered on Candice, particularly after the role she had in the previous chapter. We're likely going to see a move toward Candice being much more frequently recurring going forward... though I say that when she won't be in the next chapter. Lot of characters I can say that about apparently, it's kind of a tightly-focused one.

Either way, we all know how much our fandom likes Valerie and Nicky's parents over in Blue Blood Heroes, so let's see how being confronted more directly with Ivy and Candice's relationship goes over, eh?

Yeah, just a reminder that even though they haven't been in the same room before... Ivy is Candice's Mom. And... given her personality... yeah. Yeesh.

I absolutely love the first panel of this page. Given what we know about Ivy, how she's a total hardass with no sympathy for anyone who's totally committed to her lifestyle as a crimefighter... It's not THAT hard to connect the dots for why she doesn't have custody of her kid. Though.... That first panel. I tried hard to make Ivy's younger self still look like her while also being totally unrecognizable. She looks so wholesome and sweet, like an entirely different person. The difference in her personas just raises so many questions. It really makes oyu wonder what happened between then and now, and makes the final panel all the sadder because you saw how happy they were....

Yeah, just really hits me and very happy with the result. ^^
