This is another one where I'm pretty pleased with the art, think there's some good dynamic framing here. Something I really wanted to hammer in is how powerful Poppy Tear is and just how brutal those cables can be; catching her offguard and having Eisenstone in hand is really about the only way Alex could even break up what she's doing here.

The Eisenstone thing I think could've been handled a little better admittedly. Probably should've made it more clear than I did, but Alex picked up the stone Hazel was using back in Blue Cold as mentioned here -

Not a huge deal I guess but could've been more explicit with it, it kind of came in under the radar a bit in actually writing that chapter.

I do like how much this chapter's kind of a direct sequel to that one really, between that aspect, following up on the train attack with the Light That Remembers sending someone else as revenge, also being pretty AME-focused... That chapter even similarly had Starchild saving a member of AME from one of the Light's goons, in that case saving Mercy from Down. On that note, looks like Hazel's a bit alarmed about what just happened with Xmarlek, speaking of.

Poppy Tear was one of those characters I didn't think about too much in reading the scripts or doing the designs... While she's pretty cool, this chapter's more about Hazel and I'd been looking forward to seeing him more than I was her.... But in practice she's just been great. The creepy design and puppet motif go a long way in making her menacing.

The second panel especially.... when sitting down and reading the script to do the lineart I was pretty intimidated by that shot, as it was really creepy and alien-looking. All the cords coiling around each other to somehow execute Xmarlek.... Was very nervous drawing it but the result was just awesome. ^^

We should probably bring up Eisenstone in Blues at some point. Actually wait, maybe we shouldn't; it takes away the powers of most Non-Blues but has no effect on Blue Bloods, so giving the kids ANY access to it would be pretty broken.
