Heheh.... Yeah, we finally get a cute, adorable moment between Alex and Xandy. ^^ Always love these pair together and it's great to finally see. Every time these two are together it's awesome. This isn't the only moment of this chapter like this either, can't wait to see the next one.
But while Xandy and Alex are getting the show, I love that the spotlight is actually on Dorothy. She's a character who's greatly emphasized by her absence, and this page nicely puts over that she's a victim of what's happened the same as Alex. In a way, Alex has a deep one-way intimacy with her that comes from living her life, and I think he finds it sad that he hasn't gotten the chance to actually meet her yet.
Did have fun thinking of all the sci-fi stuff on Dorothy's bookshelf. Where did she get a pink Mothra? Did she paint it?
Also, Jodie. Really have missed drawing Jodie, she was a shit-ton of fun.
Yeah, as mentioned, this page was ready to go shading-aside on Friday, but we figured we might as well line up the filler on both comics. There'll be an update as regular on Friday and then we'll be doing Monday-only updates through August.
Pretty happy with how this one turned out. I've been wanting to really talk about Dorothy's end of things and how she's effectively been muscled out of her own life a lot lately, and how knowledge of that is weighing on Alex. I feel like at this point they know so much about Dorothy from living as her that they feel odd about the fact they haven't actually MET her and it's kind of put them into a position of wanting to do so. At the same time I do think there's probably a lot of trepidation that comes with that.
Along that same line I like having Alex express that they want Xandy to meet Jodie; it's one of those little things that I think kind of goes to show just how good-hearted Alex is, that just spending time with Jodie made enough of an impression on them that they want her to meet their own daughter.
As Adam mentioned, there'll be more Alex and Xandy stuff throughout the chapter; she very much is the main focus of Alex's own arc throughout this chapter, though not exclusively.
