.... Funny saying that when I've had a very rough week and am only just getting a break..... Eh, this was an interesting page; originally had another set-up but it really just wasn't working so Martin came up with this simpler, more mysterious one. We've still got the original version sitting around, might put it up as a filler once we wrap this chapter up.
Feels weird calling it mysterious given we know what this plot's about; Adam Young and Jordan's escape from prison and all the fallout that calls for. Been a storyline planned since the comic started so I'm pretty hyped to finally see it play out. ^^ Hope everybody enjoys.
Funny, as this is going up I'm presently working on finally updating our cast page after years of meaning to just to never seem to get around to it. Making a lot of much-needed changes to that - trimming out some fat, cutting some characters who showed up in Black Princess but to date haven't meaningfully turned up in Wright as Rayne (will add them back in whenever they actually factor into things), updating the visuals obviously, a lot of much-needed improvements going on with it. I'll post an extra comment to Comic Fury whenever that's done with, though can't imagine it terribly matters to anyone reading on DeviantArt.
As Adam mentioned, this cover was kind of improvised coming off of an alternative one that was already drawn; I didn't like how it came out so came up with this as kind of a repurposed quickie one. Initial idea was Young kind of grasping the moon ominously with Starchild and Sareena (initially also some other people but it got scaled back) on either side in front of it like kind of a movie poster, but it didn't really come out how I was picturing and it was sort of becoming clear that trying to rework it to more what I was imagining wasn't working either. I think this works better anyway, there's more of a mysterious air around it that I think better suits what the chapter actually is like.
Funny thing, we'd talked about maybe having Sarabeth as the cover box for this one since we wondered if she'd been in that position before... and then while putting the final product together got reminded she was the cover box on the previous chapter so that was kind of an embarrassingly dumb oversight for us. The picture of Sareena here is actually recycled from the previous cover, I just went ahead and polished up and finished that aspect of it to work for here. Which is sort of funny because while she is certainly prominent in the chapter it was kind of planned to be much more of a Sareena spotlight chapter than it actually wound up being and a different, more unexpected character kind of wound up having it be more their story than anything.
I actually finished writing this chapter earlier tonight. It's longer than the previous chapter but not by too much, which is good since I was expecting it to be pretty packed on content. It helps that in a lot of ways it's a sequel to Four Weeks - most characters who were prominent in it also figure into this one and we're kind of picking up on a lot of the lingering plot hooks from it in various ways. Really hope everyone's going to enjoy the ride.
