Heh... Pretty scatterbrained here, but had fun putting this page together. Now that things are semi-stable for me I'm trying to get quicker at the pages again and get back to doing four a week again. As such tried to get this one out pretty quick, and was a pretty fun, easy one to wrap up.

Martin had been floating this little confrontation around since Xmarlek had been taken out, and it was neat to see it. What I love about Hazel as a villain is that what makes him dangerous is his cunning; leaving Xmarlek alive was a really conspicuous bit of Revenge Before Reason in an otherwise ruthless takeover. This exchange also nicely establishes that Maggi has the job of reigning Hazel in whenever he's got a blind spot. She's not just a person he exposits plans to, she shores up one of his more dangerous aspects.

The last time we saw Hazel/Xmarlek's office, Hazel had taken down all the trophies of Xmarlek's time as a crime lord, but the only thing he had to replace it was a large newspaper clipping about a rise in gang violence (which he had comically blown up). Now there's a clipping on the wall about Eighth Sin being robbed, which is something we saw Sarabeth reacting to last chapter. I like the idea of slowly adding to the wall every time we see it.

Some stupid mistakes in the Comic Fury Yeah, we're going to try and get back onto a more regular schedule very soon, am sorry for the setbacks but things have levelled out a bit for the time being at least. Have some commissions and stuff to catch up on so probably won't be an immediate turnaround but want to try and get back to updating both comics twice a week soon.

This is an exchange I've had in mind for a bit, directly pointing out within the comic that it was a stupid move for Hazel to let Xmarlek live and having Maggi immediately seize on that as a potential weakness that needs to be addressed. Think it goes to show where Hazel's ego can be a bit of a blind spot for him but at the same time he was eventually willing to listen to reason somewhat on it once Maggi calmed down instead of flying off the handle at him. Kind of very much wanting to put over that she's an actual asset to him and not just someone else for him to play off of.

There isn't really a gigantic amount of Hazel in this chapter for what it's worth; the next page is the last one of this particular scene and while he'll show up again later, it'll be awhile. Most of our focus from here on will be on the plot back at the gym.
