I know that we'll likely still be in this chapter during early 2017, but eh. Still going to have a lot of fun with the costumes and whatnot for the chapter. We typically write for the archives anyway.
But yeah, idea was Laura dressed in costume as various members of the comic cast, specifically as ones that would be cool to draw her as. Basically me and Martin listed a bunch of characters that it would be neat to see her in-costume as, preferably displaying the powers where appropriate, and tried to see how many we could fit into the limited space of the cover. Neither of us expected me to be able to cram in ALL of them.
Let's see.... Vespi, Decay Conductor, John, Grant, Lenore, Nine Eyes, Alex, The Insomniac, Ana, Stargirl, Xandy, Gaspeed, and Firefly. Ropun really pulls the lot of them off, doesn't she? ^^ Think Ropun!Vespi, Ropun!Grant, and Ropun!Firefly are my favorites.
Did remember wondering if this was really too heavy on Blues costumes.... Four are directly from Blues, Vespi has only shown up in Blues and not WaR, and you could argue Xandy is a Blues character. Martin thought it was cool, though, so guess we're in the clear. ^^

That said, yeah, I imagine this isn't what people were expecting out of the cover for the Halloween chapter, but this does fit with a few of the things going on within it. Yeah, Laura gets a lot of screentime within it, though probably take a bit to really get into the full meaning of the cover and how it relates.
And hey, as you can see Chris shows back up! Been awhile on him but his presence in the chapter is pretty immediate, shows up within the first few pages. Really intended to bring him back sooner than I did, just not had the opportunity to come up with what all else has been going on.
Vespi's relation to WaR is kind of weird actually. She's only actually showed up in Blues, but she did cameo in BP long before that. Which I kind of forgot about having happened until the Blues chapter was in the works, though I wouldn't read too far into it. She's pretty unlikely to ever actually figure into WaR's plot.
This is twice now we've seen the Nine Eyes redesign we've got worked up in some format and yet he hasn't actually turned up using it yet. Kind of weird. The plan is indeed for him to come back relatively soon, but it's not in this chapter.
