Woo, chapter seventeen is underway, and it's date night!

Man, it took way too long getting through both September and October in WaR. November will be much faster; I wouldn't be too hugely surprised if this and the next one are the only ones set in November since for awhile now I've been wanting to do a little bit of a time skip, for a few different reasons we'll get into later. Don't take that as gospel though, plans are a little hazy on some things coming up.

This cover's actually a little weird in that it puts the focus entirely on Chris, with Eric and Lillian being the cover box when their rather minor role in the chapter is also part of the Alex and Chris plot, while the other two storylines of this chapter get entirely left in the cold cover-wise. Don't think either one of them would be quite as punchy to focus on for it though, plus in the actual chapter we touch on both of those before we do this plot anyway.

Don't expect this chapter to end up anywhere near as long as the last couple, especially the previous one. It's a little hazy to say exactly how long this one's going to be since I haven't entirely finished scripting it, but if I were to guess low 30s. Wanted to keep it shorter than that but it beats 61.

Oh, right, this is a good chance to talk about the new logo. Something that has bugged me with WaR for a loooong time is that its title and premise don't quite lend itself to a nice, poppy logo in the same way that Blues does, and I've long kind of struggled with a logo I really felt comfortable sticking with.

I wanted to try and change that this time and after a loooong bit of back-and-forth and spitballing eventually I settled on this more compact split head idea with the city as a dividing line on the name. Even then I struggled with how to transition between the heads and where to put the 'as' at - originally I wanted one head to fade into the other and for the 'as' to be on the same line as 'Rayne', but I couldn't quite figure out how to make the fade look right so instead the decision was made to have a black spot with the 'as' in it. I was originally kind of sketchy on that but it's grown on me, and I think this logo is pretty much a keeper other than possible minor revisions or text adjustments down the line.

Everybody be sure to swing by Monday for when we get into the thick of things then. Chapter probably isn't opening quite how you would expect it to... if only because it's not opening how I expected it to. I'll explain when we get there.

Heheh... This is a weird one for me to comment on. ^^ There's a lot of different storylines in this chapter, more than I was expecting going into it, but it still leads to a lot of really good stuff. But as much as I like the scripts of this chapter it's hard to talk about the cover. Very simple.

The logo was a lot of fun to work with. ^^ Me and Martin had some good back-and-forth designing that thing, throwing together ideas and things to base it off of. I think I threw him the logo of Marvel's AXIS as a spitball and it grew into this. WaR's been through a few logos and think this is easily my favorite of them.

.... Oh, right, meant to mention, Martin fixed up a better, gradient version of the Blues logo over on that site. Kept meaning to mention and never did.
