Heheh... Yeah, back to the actual comic work here. ^^ I really, REALLY needed the break, just because the last two chapters in Blues and WaR had really hit me hard... Hell, this cover was the first thing we did after wrapping up the last chapter, and despite being piss-easy it still took me three days to wrap up. This page shouldn't've taken more than a single night, but I was just so burned out that I remember it being a slog doing literally anything comic-related. I've bounced back pretty strongly now, and am ready for another round! ^^
As you can see here, and tell from the ending of the last chapter, this is going to finally pay off the Patriot Initiative plot.
Kinda all I got, this is a pretty simple page just showing off how tough and ominous these assholes are. I do love how Paxton is clearly over-selling his patriotism, since he's the main one in the group who's clearly in it for the money.
Since the time table on Adam's comment got screwed up anyway - accidentally set the page up already live at first - guess I may as well comment. Granted kind of hard to be all that concerned about it because gout's been badly flaring up for a few days now. Hopefully by the time these comments actually go up I'll be doing a bit better.
So this chapter went through some ups and downs coming together, though this was always more or less the plan for the cover; at a point in time this and the chapter after were going to be paired together under the title of North & South; I decided to split them off from each other in large part because I thought both plots could work much better on their own than they would having to share screentime, plus I had a lot of other stuff I wanted Sareena and co. to get to besides the Patriot Initiative and it'd be hard to juggle around the Alex plot. So instead Alex has a couple of appearances here to set that up and then the next chapter will be firmly focused on what he's doing. At a point in time after that the first two pages of this chapter were going to be there laying some groundwork then we'd do the Alex stuff first, but Adam and I both agreed it worked better going ahead and wrapping up the Patriot Initiative plot line and then worrying about that.
Funny thing on the cover box, I wanted it to be one of the characters we haven't seen in awhile, and Eric and Erin in their i47 costume felt like the most disposable option - didn't really want to spoil some of the others who'd be showing up. Few faces it's been awhile on who will be turning up in this one, right from the first page.
