Yeah, it's been waaaaay too long since we touched in with the Man of the Times subplot, especially given we had the setup of him bailing Lara and Ozias out in the first merged chapter and then haven't checked in with it again since or really given the whole subject any sort of proper introduction within Wright as Rayne itself. Clumsy writing there I'll readily admit, but there wasn't really a natural place to work it in and the Patriot Initiative and O'Hara stuff really got in the way of coming back around to the subject. This is something we'll properly be more devoting some more time to and giving a more direct recap of before too terribly long. Won't be right away but it won't be the ridiculous wait it was getting to this, I assure you.

This did feel like an appropriate time to come back around to this whole leg of the plot though, because that was the first merged chapter and it kind of brings Sareena and Misty's WaR story thus far full circle to return to it here, even if that wasn't actually their first run-in with the Patriot Initiative.

It's sort of ironic, I told Adam upfront that I wanted the next two chapters to be heavily focused on backgrounds but there's been little need for them in the pages we've drawn so far because the first few pages of the chapter are very talky with a lot of info in short order. First page looks good at least I hope.

Speaking of art, decided to walk it back on the big rounded glasses we were experimenting with on Ana on the previous chapter, kind of just looked too nerdy.

For the record these three are nooooot the furthest back the returning characters go in this chapter.

Heheh... Yeah, this chapter's been a really fun experience in looking back at older characters we haven't seen it forever. It's always a lot of fun, since every character you see here is tweaked in some way to make their design pop a bit more and look nicer.

Man Of The Times is the biggest culprit since he was drawn the furthest back and needed the most attention. This hair's spikier and given more of a gelled look; come to think of it, a bit of peroxide and he'd look like Zack Morris. The more vibrant color scheme for the comic now also means his wardrobe is brighter and even MORE eye-grabbing, which is great since I drew him to basically look as douchey as possible. Don't you wanna punch this guy?

Ozais I wanted to try and look more visibly Hispanic, especially since we're discussing how the Patriot Initiative are racist dicks. I tried to dial that aspect up, and since he's being portrayed more heroically here, I tried to make him look sexier. His face is more appealing and the improved art style does a lot to make his exposed chest hair look good. He's probably got the design change I like the most.

Lara, by contrast, doesn't have much going on besides the fact that her hair's been toned WAAAAY down.

I genuinely look forward to seeing more characters from way back, since we've really worked hard to improve how our art looks. Re-visiting old characters always is the best way of displaying that.

Speaking on seeing characters again, Sareena's got bandages on her face after the beating she got at the end of the last chapter. I'm kind of annoyed since I meant for her to have bandages on her left hand after it got stomped on, but we never see that hand on camera. Eh. Either way, liked having that touch. ^^
