I haven't been keeping up with Gunnerkrigg lately, but honestly? Drawing this little tribute to the comic made me remember just how much I love it. It was so much fun looking up references for how exactly to get this to look right and revisiting the cast of characters. We went with these four (Antimony, Kat, Reynardine, and Mort, but it would've been easy to bring in any number of other characters. Offhand we have a lot of love for Zimmy Ysengrin, Jones, Parley.... Just a great cast. ^^

The weird thing is just how much Ana and Jake pull off their outfits.... Hell, Xandy's even looks like something she could wear as pajamas. So cute. ^^

This was drawn a bit close to the clock, so Lenore was a bit on the lazy side; she's actually the same shot of her from the last filler, just with a sheet thrown over her.

City Face was very much a last minute addition, but he's one of those funner, more freaky character so it was easy to pop him in for a fly-by. Actually, sort of appropriate; the inspiration for Lenore and Xandy hosting the fillers came from him. Literally just remembered that typing up these comments.

You can read Gunnerkrigg Court right here -

We actually kind of hemmed and hawed about this one for awhile. Gunnerkrigg kind of has so much to choose from that it was hard to narrow down; we actually chose to draw it pretty last minute because Adam was too tired to do much on it last night and it felt wrong to not include Kat.

Casting was a little weird to come up with, particularly for who got the Kat role; Adam suggested Jake and it wound up being a better fit than expected. Someone else was also considered but we decided to hold off on her in case something more appropriate comes to mind.

Lenore being Mort feels pretty natural. Sort of cute getting her in a shoddy costume of that sort, particularly since between her eyes and her voice she's still immediately recognizable.
